Monster Book of ABC's

Well my letters have inspired me to  make a coloring book. 
This, as you can see by the letter A, is the first illustration without added words,

Studio Letters

I ordered some more tiles last week and Bisque Imports had a sale on their alphabet tiles.  so on a whim I ordered some.  I got them in and decided I would paint them with illustrated monsters.  Here are a few I have finished.  I can't wait to get them hung on my wall.  You can see my process in this photo as not all tiles are finished. 

Wallis Sanded Paper

So I found this little watercolor I did on Wallis Pastel paper a few years ago.  I had experimented on the paper and was really excited about the results.  BUT  then.... Wallis stopped producing the paper because of production issues.  I have been waiting forever it seems for them to perfect the process so I can get more paper.  I'm now on a waiting list to get some.  fingers crossed its soon.

Arts to Zion Studio Tours

St. George News Clip

Solo Exhibition

I was asked to do a solo show.  I am so excited.  It will be at the Defiore Center for the Arts in St. George Utah.  He is the Ad card I made for it and some of my tiles.  Sizes range from 2 x2 in. tiles to 8 x8 in tiles. abstracted to realistic imagery.

 

 

Happy 50th MOM & DAD

The Family went on an Alaskan cruise for my parents 100th wedding anniversary.  The scenery was amazing, and the inspiration plentiful.  I have tons of great photo reference.

New Book Job

Its been a busy year.  I'm working on a book commission.  Here are some sample images.

After the Storm

I entered another show, this time the Southern Utah Art Guild miniature show and I won third place.  Not Best in Show, but I'm still pretty happy.  Here's the winning piece...

After thought...  I've been painting more of these tiles from my Europe photo references and you can see them on my website under my Fine Art tab.

My Uncles Chickens

Awhile ago I discovered my uncle had chickens.  Intrigued I went and watched them and took photo reference  and sketched.  Mixed among them were two ducks and they followed the chickens around as if they were no different.  These are a few that I finished to give to my uncle.  in the last one you can see one of those ducks happily being a chicken.

Miniatures

UPDATE:  I entered this piece into the Lucky Thirteen show in Mesquite Nevada and I won Best in Show!!!  So excited  I guess I'm not the only one who likes my new idea.

I've had another idea that I'm running with just to experiment and to expand my technical abilities.  I'm trying watercolor on ceramic tiles and I must say am enjoying the results.  What do you think?

The Big Move

It has been a busy year,  I've finished my first official book entitled the North Pole: For Sale Below are a few finished pieces,  I'm working on several projects and of course, I just moved.  I'm Looking forward to big things in my future!!

Rome (Palestrina) Italy - May 10th - 13th

We went to Rome for three days saw some great things and all I drew was this sketch of the train station as we waited for our train to Florence.  I have photo's though.

First:  A picture of me with our host Mario at his home in Palestrina. A view from the museum, the Colosseum, a fun shot of Roman ruins, and lastly a shot of Rob and I in the ruins.

Perugia Italy - May 6th - 10th

Next stop Perugia and all the little hill side cities around there.  Top left: A view of Perugia Top right:  The old castle above Assisi.  Middle Top:  A view of Assisi from the train station the old castle is seen on top of hill. Bottom left church tower in Assisi and Bottom Right a street scene from Spello.  One of our favorite towns of the area.

Below:  A photo of me in our hotel window, the poppies that are everywhere in Italy and next a dusk view of Perugia.  Finally, one of my favorite images looking down through the winding streets of Perugia.

Turino Italy - May 6th

We had a one night Layover in Turino and had a great time and the people were so friendly.  It was a beautiful town and I wish we had time to stay longer.  we got to the top of the church tower and I just had time for this sketch before they closed and kicked us out.  Here's a photo of Rob and I with the city behind us, and below is one of the buildings I was attempting to sketch.

Paris France - May 27th - June 5th

Ten days in Paris  and for Rob that meant an orange tart everyday.  There is nothing better than French pastries.  YUM.  We spent the time seeing do much that I didn't get much painted.  Headstones from pere la chase cemetery,  Statues from cathedrals, (top right and bottom right).  In the middle are several studies from Giverny   and on the bottom quick studies of Les Invalides and Our favorite day trip destination... Rambouillet.  We ate the best pistachio meringue as well as dinner that I can't remember what it was called but below is a photo as well as a photo of Rambouillet.
